Class is . . .

Class is an aura of confidence that is being sure without being cocky. Class has nothing to do with money. Class never runs scared. It is self-discipline and self-knowledge. It's the sure footedness that comes with having proved you can meet life.

- Ann Landers

Myth or Fact? Networking Is Over Rated

Myth: Networking is over rated.

Fact: Most people being hired today owe their jobs to networking connections. Certainly more than searching for jobs online. Your goal should be to spend 75% of your  job search time in developing personal relationships.  Always ask new networking contacts for additional names - to keep building your network.  Then keep everybody in the loop with periodic updates - especially after you've been hired.  And when that does happen - don't forget to reconnect with all of them again and say thank you.  Networking is a new "Life Skill."

ALWAYS Be Prepared . . .

Another  of my "Rules of Six":

ALWAYS  be prepared to talk about your top 6  career accomplishments. You may only need three, but if you have done your research - you'll be able to pick and choose those that are most relevant to the company.

Develop A Plan . . .

Strive . . .

Strive for face to face meetings with contacts whenever possible. It offers a much higher probability of a better connection and more possibilities.

LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Oh My!

In job search, you can expect your online presence to be searched by recruiters and prospective employers. What are you and "others" saying to a future employer?

Some People . . .

"Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved."

- Will Rogers
